Deloitte Advises Liceo Sorolla on Sale to Cognita Group

Deloitte Legal advised the shareholders of Liceo Sorolla on the sale of the Madrid school to the Cognita education group; the Deloitte Corporate Finance and Transaction Services teams also participated in the transaction. The transaction concerns the sale of Liceo Sorolla, founded in 1963 by three families who continue to lead the educational project. The school provides an active-learning curriculum, trilingual education in Spanish, English and French, and a strong international focus. Liceo Sorolla currently enrolls more than 1,000 students aged 2 to 18, representing 25 different nationalities. Cognita operates across Europe, the United States, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia, and comprises more than 100 schools and tens of thousands of students worldwide. In Spain the group already included Hastings School, The English Montessori School (TEMS), Colegio Europeo de Madrid (CEM), Mirasur School (Madrid), The British School of Barcelona, Colegio Internacional Meres (Asturias), El Limonar International School (ELIS) Murcia and Villamartín, and the British School of Valencia; the acquisition of Liceo Sorolla brings Cognita’s Spanish network to 10 schools. Deloitte Legal represented the shareholders of Liceo Sorolla with a team composed by: Guillermo Donadeu García-Nieto, Miguel Salvide Alegría and Luis Burillo López-Camacho. The Deloitte Corporate Finance and Transaction Services teams also participated in the transaction.
