Kirkland & Ellis Advises Arctos Partners on Minority Investment in Monumental Sports & Entertainment

Kirkland & Ellis advised Arctos Partners on its acquisition of a minority interest in Monumental Sports & Entertainment. The transaction involves Arctos Partners acquiring a minority stake in Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE). MSE owns and operates the National Hockey League's Washington Capitals, the National Basketball Association's Washington Wizards, the Women's National Basketball Association's Washington Mystics, the NBA G League's Capital City Go-Go and Wizards District Gaming of the NBA 2K League, as well as the local media platform Monumental Sports Network and several other investments in sports and entertainment. MSE also operates Capital One Arena in downtown Washington, D.C., and is leading an $800 million-plus transformation of the arena and the adjacent downtown sports and entertainment district as part of a public‑private partnership with the city.
