Cadwalader and Hogan Lovells to combine in $3.6 billion merger creating Hogan Lovells Cadwalader

Davis Polk represented Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, advising the firm on its proposed combination with Hogan Lovells to form a new entity to be known as Hogan Lovells Cadwalader. The proposed transaction will combine Cadwalader and Hogan Lovells into what is described as the largest law firm combination in history. The combined firm is expected to generate annual revenue in excess of $3.6 billion based on 2024 performance and to rank as the world’s fifth-largest firm by revenue. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including votes by the partners of each firm to be held in 2026. The combined firm will have approximately 3,100 lawyers across the Americas, EMEA and APAC and aims for a balanced revenue profile across premier legal markets on both sides of the Atlantic.
