NautaDutilh advised Currence Holding B.V. on the sale of iDIN B.V. to Belgian Mobile ID NV (itsme). The transaction concerned the acquisition by itsme of iDIN, the Dutch identification service originally established by several Dutch banks including ABN AMRO, ASN Bank, ING and Rabobank. iDIN enables consumers to identify themselves and log in to online services using their bank's login methods; it currently has around 300 connected businesses in the Netherlands and recorded some 15 million identification actions in 2024. itsme is a Belgian identity app with more than 7 million users and 475 million identification actions in 2024. In Belgium itsme is used by both commercial organisations and government websites, in a role similar to DigiD in the Netherlands. itsme is active in 29 European countries with approximately 1,200 connected businesses. The acquisition represents itsme's first major expansion outside Belgium. From mid-2026 consumers in the Netherlands will be able to use the itsme app alongside their banking app for identification with connected services, with a full integration of iDIN into itsme planned for 2028. NautaDutilh represented Currence Holding B.V. with a team composed by: Rebecca Pinto, Twan Hamers, Julia Stoeckart (Corporate M&A), Cyril Christiaans (Commercial), Jasmijn van Koetsveld, Mees Veeger (Competition), Jules van de Winckel, Eline Keuning (Corporate Notarial), and Pedro Paraguay (Tax).
