German Government Appoints Noerr Partner Barbara Maucher to ICSID Panel of Conciliators

Noerr announced that its partner Barbara Maucher has been appointed by the German Federal Government as a conciliator to the Panel of Conciliators of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). The appointment makes Maucher a member of the small group of four recognised experts designated by the Federal Republic of Germany to serve on ICSID’s Panel of Conciliators. ICSID, part of the World Bank Group and based in Washington, is the principal institution for investment arbitration and provides a neutral forum for resolving disputes between states and foreign investors under bilateral and multilateral investment treaties by conciliation, arbitration or fact-finding. ICSID has administered the majority of international investment cases, and members of the Panel of Conciliators are available to serve as conciliators, arbitrators and ad hoc committee members. Barbara Maucher is admitted to practice in both the United States and Germany and acts for U.S. and German clients in cross-border matters. She specialises in representing clients from the energy and finance sectors in arbitration proceedings involving both commercial and investment disputes. Maucher is a member of Noerr’s arbitration practice group, which is headed by Anke Meier and comprises approximately 20 lawyers.
