Mollie to acquire GoCardless to form European payments leader

Houthoff advised Mollie in its agreed acquisition of GoCardless. The transaction will bring together Mollie’s broad financial services offering and GoCardless’s bank payments expertise to create a unified platform serving more than 350,000 businesses across Europe. The combination is intended to establish a European leader in the fragmented payments market. Both companies are reported to be profitable and the strategic rationale emphasises delivering a comprehensive, integrated suite of payment solutions to customers rather than pursuing cost reduction measures.
