Synch Advises Gästrike Återvinnare on Sale of Gästrike Avfallshantering to PreZero Recycling

Synch advised the municipal federation Gästrike Återvinnare in connection with the sale of its shares in Gästrike Avfallshantering Aktiebolag to PreZero Recycling AB. The transaction involved the transfer of ownership in Gästrike Avfallshantering, which operates a key waste management facility in Forsbacka. Gästrike Återvinnare is responsible for municipal waste management across its five member municipalities — Gävle, Sandviken, Hofors, Ockelbo and Älvkarleby — overseeing collection, treatment, planning and communication of household waste services with a strong focus on sustainability and efficient resource management. Gästrike Avfallshantering’s Forsbacka facility contributes to the region’s long-term environmental and circular-economy objectives. Following completion of the transaction, PreZero will continue to operate and develop the Forsbacka facility, ensuring continuity of services and ongoing support for the region’s waste management infrastructure. Anna-Karin Jakobsson, Director General of Gästrike Återvinnare, said she appreciated Synch Law’s legal support in the sale. She noted that Synch contributed legal expertise and guidance and was quick and responsive to suggestions, questions and doubts throughout the process, which made decision makers feel secure and comfortable and enabled the parties to complete the sale with two satisfied parties.
