Ashurst advises Mollie on its acquisition of GoCardless

Ashurst advised Mollie on its acquisition of GoCardless; Lowenstein Sandler LLP provided US law advice and Houthoff provided Dutch law advice. The transaction combines Mollie and GoCardless to create what the parties describe as Europe’s most complete payment platform. Mollie, one of Europe’s fastest‑growing financial services providers, will integrate card payments, local methods and bank payments into a single solution. The strategic combination will create a single payment provider serving over 350,000 businesses. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals, and is expected to be finalised mid‑2026. Ashurst represented Mollie with a team composed by: Tech M&A partner Chris Grey (lead partner), counsel Gaspard Bastien‑Thiry, senior associate Tom McCann, associate Hugh Morris and trainee Flora Porkolab.
