Hogan Lovells and Dentons advise on €150 million Angelini Ventures and EIB co‑financing for European biotech and digital health startups

The initiative is aligned with the EIB Group's TechEU investment programme."

Hogan Lovells advised Angelini Ventures, and Dentons advised the European Investment Bank (EIB), in connection with a €150 million co‑financing agreement to support European startups operating in biotechnology, medical technology and digital health. The transaction is the first agreement the EIB has concluded in Italy with a corporate venture capital fund active in life sciences in Europe in the healthcare sector. Under the arrangement Angelini Ventures and the EIB will each commit €75 million over the next six years, with the parties planning to co‑invest in a total of 7–10 European startups. Target companies are those developing innovative, market‑ready solutions in areas such as biotechnology, medical technology and digital health. The initiative is aligned with TechEU, the EIB Group investment programme designed to strengthen innovation and technological leadership in Europe. Through TechEU the EIB Group intends to invest €70 billion in equity, quasi‑equity, loans and guarantees in 2025–2027, with the objective of mobilising €250 billion of investment in the real economy. Hogan Lovells represented Angelini Ventures with a team composed by: Alessandro Accrocca (partner), Edoardo Minnetti (associate), Noemi Biagini (associate) and Riccardo Del Torto (trainee). Dentons represented the European Investment Bank (EIB) with a team composed by: Antonio Legrottaglie (partner) and Manuel Sturba (associate). Angelini Ventures in‑house legal team represented Angelini Ventures with a team composed by: Enrica Dogali (Group Chief Legal and Compliance Officer, Angelini Industries) and Flaminia Fossati (Head of Legal Contract Management). European Investment Bank internal team represented the EIB with a team composed by: Stefano Marzario (Senior Invest Officer, responsible for commercial aspects) and Daniela Saccone (Head of Venture Debt Unit, responsible for legal aspects).
