Bird & Bird advises Cheyne Capital and Champneys on acquisition of Buxton Crescent Spa Hotel and Old Hall Hotel

International law firm Bird & Bird advised global alternative investment fund manager Cheyne Capital, in partnership with Champneys, on the acquisition of Buxton Crescent Spa Hotel and the nearby Old Hall Hotel. The transaction covers Buxton Crescent, a beautifully restored five‑star, 81‑bedroom hotel with a thermal spa, together with the Assembly Room conference centre, and the adjacent 36‑bedroom Old Hall Hotel. Situated at the heart of Buxton, a historic spa town on the edge of the Peak District, the two hotels benefit from strong leisure and corporate demand. The acquisition is part of a wider long‑term partnership between Cheyne Capital and Champneys to invest in the existing Champneys estate and to fund new openings in the UK and overseas.
