Addleshaw Goddard Advises BHP on Joining Sumer Group

"Addleshaw Goddard advised Yorkshire accountancy and advisory firm BHP on its deal to join the Sumer Group, a leading mid-market practice. The transaction will transfer over 420 people from BHP’s five offices to Sumer. BHP generated £37m in annual fees; Sumer now has 3,000+ people, more than 60 offices and annual revenue exceeding £265m."

Addleshaw Goddard advised Yorkshire-based accountancy and advisory firm BHP on its transaction to join the Sumer Group. The move, described as one of the biggest accountancy sector deals of the year, will see BHP bring more than 420 people across its five offices — Sheffield, Leeds, York, Cleckheaton and Chesterfield — into Sumer. The transaction is the largest independent practice to join the Sumer national group in 2025. BHP provides an integrated full-service offering across assurance, advisory, tax and corporate finance and generated £37 million in annual fee income. Sumer has grown rapidly through acquisition and organic growth and now employs more than 3,000 people across over 60 offices, with annual revenue in excess of £265 million.
