Scoop Herford Hotelbetriebs GmbH Files for Insolvency as PLUTA Secures Continued Hotel Operation

PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH acted for Scoop Herford Hotelbetriebs GmbH, the operator of the IntercityHotel in Herford, in proceedings following the company’s insolvency filing and the court appointment of PLUTA attorneys as provisional insolvency administrators. On 3 December 2025 the Local Court of Augsburg appointed attorney Georg Jakob Stemshorn of PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH as provisional insolvency administrator for Scoop Herford Hotelbetriebs GmbH. Attorney Dr André Wehner, also of PLUTA, is working alongside Mr Stemshorn to stabilise the hotel’s financial position and to evaluate options for a sustainable continuation of the business. The company, which is headquartered in Augsburg and operates the IntercityHotel in Herford, filed for insolvency due to liquidity problems caused by several factors, including exceptional and unexpectedly high additional charges for past energy consumption. Despite the insolvency application, the hotel continues to operate: guests may check in and new bookings are being accepted without restriction. The provisional administrators are reviewing the company’s finances, holding discussions with key stakeholders and management, and will consider further measures in the coming weeks with the aim of securing long-term continuity. Employee salaries for the 27 staff are guaranteed for a period of three months under substitute benefits provided by German insolvency law. Initial discussions with stakeholders have been described as constructive, and the PLUTA team is pursuing options to keep the business operating on a stable basis while developing a long-term solution for the hotel.
