Rymarz Zdort Maruta Advises Orlen in Stockholm Arbitration Awarding USD 118 Million Against Gazprom

"Rymarz Zdort Maruta advised PKN Orlen in an ad hoc arbitration in Stockholm against Gazprom concerning interest on alleged overpayments under the Yamal Contract (2014–2020). In October 2025 the Tribunal fully upheld Orlen’s claim, awarding USD 118 million in interest plus further interest and legal costs; the total benefit is estimated at about USD 146 million. The dispute is part of broader disagreements over price changes and the 2022 supply interruption."

Law firm Rymarz Zdort Maruta represented PKN Orlen in an ad hoc arbitration in Stockholm against Gazprom, assisting Orlen in a claim concerning interest on alleged overpayments for natural gas delivered under the Yamal Contract between 2014 and 2020. The arbitration Tribunal issued its ruling in October 2025, fully upholding Orlen’s claim and awarding USD 118 million in interest, together with additional interest and legal costs. The total financial benefit to Orlen is estimated at approximately USD 146 million. The matter forms part of a broader series of disputes between Orlen and Gazprom relating to price adjustments under the contract in 2017–2022 and the consequences of the 2022 interruption of gas supplies.
