Schoenherr and Moravcevic Vojnovic Advise Lenders on EUR 450 Million Facility for Montenegro

Moravcevic Vojnovic and Partners, in cooperation with Schoenherr and working with Norton Rose Fulbright, advised a syndicate of financial institutions including Merrill Lynch International, MUFG Bank, Société Générale, OTP Bank, Erste Group, AKA Ausfuhrkredit-Gesellschaft and Eurobank Private Bank Luxembourg; White & Case advised the State of Montenegro. The transaction comprised a EUR 450 million facility agreement granted to the State of Montenegro. According to Schoenherr, the financing was secured on favourable market terms and carries an interest rate of approximately 4.5% (six‑month EURIBOR plus a 2.5% margin). The facility has a five‑year tenor and is repayable on a semi‑annual basis. The funds will be used exclusively to build fiscal reserves for 2026 and 2027. The financing is intended to support timely debt servicing and help maintain fiscal stability as Montenegro prepares for forthcoming obligations totalling roughly EUR 2.2 billion.
