Krogerus Advises Nevel Oy on Joint Venture with Sotkan Voima to Establish Sotkamon Energia

Krogerus advised Nevel Oy in connection with the establishment of a joint venture with Sotkan Voima Oy, the company owned by the municipality of Sotkamo. The transaction concerns the creation of a new company, Sotkamon Energia, which will assume comprehensive responsibility for district heating production, distribution, customer service and development in the municipality of Sotkamo. Sotkamon Energia is scheduled to commence operations in early 2026. The project aims to develop Sotkamo’s district heating in a sustainable and competitive manner through an innovative operating model. The new company will enhance security of supply and maintenance, enable investments in new technologies such as electrification, and create a pathway towards responsible, carbon-neutral energy production. Krogerus represented Nevel Oy with a team composed by: Partner Sami Laine; Associates Toni Kastell and Teemu Huhtala; and Partner Samu Lassila and Senior Associate Jemiina Pohja, who advised on the tax aspects of the transaction.
