Latham & Watkins Advises CVC on £2 Billion Acquisition of Smiths Detection

Latham & Watkins advised CVC, one of the world’s leading private markets investment firms, in its acquisition of Smiths Detection from Smiths Group plc, and also advised CVC and its portfolio company Domestic & General on Domestic & General’s sale to Asurion. The transaction comprises CVC’s agreed acquisition of Smiths Detection, a global leader in threat-detection and security-screening technologies for airports and critical infrastructure, from Smiths Group plc. The acquisition is subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the second half of 2026. Separately, Latham & Watkins advised CVC and Domestic & General on the sale of Domestic & General, one of the largest appliance care providers in the UK and Europe, to Asurion, a global leader in technology care, support and protection.
