Gowlings advises Marylebone Cricket Club on redevelopment of the historic Allen Stand at Lord's

"Gowlings' non-contentious Construction Team advised the Marylebone Cricket Club on the redevelopment of the historic Allen Stand at Lord's. The works increase capacity to 806 seats, incorporate sustainability measures to meet MCC's Net Zero Carbon targets, and are due for full completion in winter 2026/27."

Gowlings' non-contentious Construction Team advised the Marylebone Cricket Club on the redevelopment of the historic Allen Stand at Lord's Cricket Ground. The project will increase the stand's capacity by 190 to 806 seats while recreating the distinct presence of the existing structure. The redevelopment continues the Club's commitment to architectural excellence and incorporates a range of sustainability initiatives designed to help meet MCC's Net Zero Carbon objectives for scopes 1 and 2 by 2030 and scope 3 by 2040. Construction began following the last international match of the 2025 season. The works provide for seating with temporary facilities for the summer 2026 season, with full completion expected in winter 2026/27 so the new Allen Stand will be in full use for the Ashes series in 2027. Gowlings represented Marylebone Cricket Club with a team composed by: Legal Director Ian Sheppard (Legal Director, Non-contentious Construction); Partner Richard Green (Partner, Non-contentious Construction); and Senior Associate Alexandra Oxborrow (Senior Associate, Non-contentious Construction).
