Freshfields Advises RAKBANK on Sale of Merchant Acquiring Business to Network International

"Freshfields advised RAKBANK on the strategic sale of its merchant acquiring business to Network International. The transaction transfers a portfolio of 5,000 merchants and establishes a partnership to serve RAKBANK’s more than 80,000 SME and corporate customers. The deal is targeted to close in early 2026, subject to regulatory approvals."

Global law firm Freshfields advised RAKBANK in the sale of its merchant acquiring business to Network International. The transaction will transfer a portfolio of approximately 5,000 merchants from RAKBANK into Network International’s acquiring ecosystem. As part of the agreement, Network International will partner with RAKBANK to serve the bank’s diverse customer base, including supporting merchant acquiring needs for more than 80,000 SME and corporate customers. The deal is targeted to close in early 2026 and remains subject to regulatory approvals.
