Clifford Chance Advises GIGA Storage on 100 MW Tolling Agreement with Vattenfall for Leopard Battery Project in the Netherlands

Clifford Chance advised GIGA Storage, the large-scale energy storage projects developer supported by Infravia Capital Partners, in connection with a 100 MW tolling agreement with Vattenfall for the Leopard battery project in the Netherlands. The tolling contract covers 100 MW of Leopard’s total 300 MW capacity, representing one third of the project. The agreement provides GIGA Storage with fixed long-term revenues to support project financing and grants Vattenfall full operational control of the 100 MW capacity, enabling it to mitigate increased imbalance risks across its customer and renewable portfolio. The contract is scheduled to take effect on 1 January 2028 and constitutes the largest tolling agreement for a standalone battery energy storage system in the Benelux. Clifford Chance has previously advised GIGA Storage and GIGA Leopard on the €300 million financing of the GIGA Leopard project.
