Clifford Chance Advises Asterion on Acquisition of Covilhã Data Centre from Altice Portugal

Clifford Chance, with support from Morais Leitão, advised Asterion Industrial Partners on the acquisition of the Covilhã data centre from Altice Portugal. The transaction marks Asterion’s entry into the Portuguese data centre market through the purchase of the Covilhã Campus from the country’s leading telecommunications operator for €120 million. The Covilhã Campus currently has 6.8 MW of installed capacity and offers architectural potential, available land and a secured electricity supply that could support expansion of up to 175 MW. Under the terms of the deal, Altice Portugal will remain as an anchor tenant at the facility pursuant to a long-term Master Service Agreement. This is Asterion’s second significant data centre transaction following last year’s sale of Nabiax, in which Clifford Chance also acted as legal adviser to the fund.
