Watson Farley & Williams advised the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on a US$75 million financing package for ECOM Agroindustrial Corp Limited and ECOM Agroindustrial Asia Pte Ltd. The financing forms part of a broader US$175 million project, co-financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), designed to strengthen supply chains and improve livelihoods and employment for small-scale farmers in the Asia-Pacific region. The initiative will facilitate stable procurement of coffee from more than 60,000 smallholder farmers in India, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and Vietnam and will provide consulting services including coffee certification support, climate change adaptation pilot projects and farming support for female farmers. This transaction follows WFW’s earlier advisory role to ADB in December 2024 on a US$100 million financing package to ECOM under the same project. Watson Farley & Williams represented JICA with a team composed by: Matt Lorimer, Projects Partner (Hanoi Finance team); Phan Nguyen, Associate (Hanoi Finance team).
