DLA Piper Advises IFC and Government of Iraq on Baghdad International Airport PPP

DLA Piper advised the International Finance Corporation and the Government of Iraq on the public‑private partnership for Baghdad International Airport. The transaction covers the rehabilitation, expansion, financing, operation and maintenance of Baghdad International Airport, in a project with an estimated value of approximately USD 764 million. The PPP is intended to modernize and expand the airport’s capacity, attract private investment, improve service quality and bolster Baghdad’s role as a regional aviation hub. DLA Piper described the project as a major milestone for Iraq’s transport infrastructure and the first PPP of its kind in the country’s aviation sector. The tender for the project was awarded to a consortium comprising Corporacion America Airports together with local infrastructure company Amwaj International.
