honert (Munich) advised ATHOS Family Office on a partnership with EQT Future Fund and other co-investors for the acquisition of a majority stake in DESOTEC. DESOTEC, founded in 1990 and headquartered in Roeselare, Belgium, is a leading international provider of environmental technologies. Its circular Filtration-as-a-Service model—combining mobile filter systems, logistics and in-house reactivation of activated carbon—allows companies to meet tightening environmental and emission standards efficiently and cost-effectively. The company operates the world’s largest fleet of mobile (re)activated carbon filters and supports more than 2,000 customers across Europe and North America in removing pollutants such as VOCs, PFAS and hydrogen sulfide from air, water and soil. As part of the transaction, private equity funds will acquire a majority stake, while Blackstone will remain a minority investor in the company. The shareholders intend to support DESOTEC’s continued dynamic growth in Europe, particularly in markets where it is not yet widely established, and to accelerate the North American expansion that began in 2023. honert (Munich) represented ATHOS Family Office with a team composed by: Dr. Kai-Klemens Wehlage (lead), Judith Kutter, Bastian Hosp and Verena Wackerbauer (corporate law / M&A).
