Sullivan & Cromwell Represents Raoul Wallenberg Centre Pro Bono in Legal Advocacy for October 7 Victims

Sullivan & Cromwell LLP represented pro bono client the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights in providing legal advocacy on behalf of hostages and other victims of the October 7, 2023 terror attacks in Israel. Sullivan & Cromwell’s work on the matter included representing families of hostages and other victims in connection with criminal investigations by the United States Department of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. That assistance encompassed facilitating interviews of eyewitnesses and aiding in the production of evidence to support those investigations. The firm also evaluated the imposition of targeted sanctions against Hamas and terrorist officials, as well as against funders and enablers. Significant recent developments related to these efforts include DOJ charges against six senior Hamas leaders, the joint U.S.-Canadian designation of a sham fundraising organization as a terrorist entity, the imposition of sanctions in North America and Europe, and applications by the ICC prosecutor for arrest warrants against key Hamas figures.
