Macfarlanes advises Legal & General on speculative acquisition and development of prime London urban logistics site

Macfarlanes advised Legal & General on the acquisition and planned speculative development of a prime urban logistics site in London. The firm advised on the £30 million purchase of a 2.6-acre brownfield site in the West Thamesmead Opportunity Area, Greenwich. Legal & General acquired the site on Nathan Way to enable the speculative construction of close to 79,000 sq ft of high-quality, flexible logistics accommodation as part of its build-to-core programme focused on last-mile distribution. Verdion will act as development manager for the project. The development is being designed with sustainability embedded from the outset and is targeting EPC A+ and BREEAM Excellent ratings. It will incorporate high energy-performance technologies and biodiversity-positive measures intended to reduce operational carbon, improve resource efficiency and future-proof the asset against evolving regulatory and occupier requirements.
