Goodwin Advises Arcole on Majority Stake Acquisition in Methal

Goodwin represented Arcole in connection with Arcole’s majority investment in Methal, with the transaction executed alongside co-investor Benalu-Legras. The operation involved the acquisition of Methal, a company formed from the carve-out of ten industrial sites in France previously operated by the UK group Bodycote. Methal is a major player in heat treatment with more than a century of know-how. The company generates €30 million in annual revenue, employs 175 people and serves roughly 2,500 clients. Methal provides bespoke heat-treatment solutions for a range of sectors, including general industry, automotive, medical, defence and aerospace. Arcole is an independent asset manager authorised by the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF). The firm manages funds that support French SMEs and mid-market companies with significant growth potential, typically generating annual revenues between €20 million and €250 million.
