Dentons represented Yealink Network Technology Co., Ltd. in litigation brought by Barco, Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. Dentons secured a significant jury verdict in a high-stakes patent infringement dispute filed by Barco. The case alleged ongoing infringement, willful infringement, and sought substantial damages. After a contested trial, the jury returned a verdict aligned with Dentons’ arguments, finding no ongoing infringement, no willful infringement, and awarding only minimal damages, a small fraction of the sums sought by Barco. Barco had requested damages several times higher than the final award. As part of its defense strategy, Dentons initiated more than a dozen parallel patent challenges, including inter partes reviews. To date, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has instituted all of those reviews, further reinforcing Yealink’s position.
