DLA Piper advises ReGeneration on Mirova's first carbon investment in France

"DLA Piper advised ReGeneration on the legal aspects of its regenerative agriculture carbon programme as Mirova commits €10 million—its first carbon investment in France—to develop the programme in France and Belgium. The project will support about 3,400 farmers across 500,000 hectares, generate Verra VM0042-based credits with CCB certification, and is expected to avoid or reduce 10.4 MtCO2e over 20 years."

DLA Piper advised ReGeneration in connection with Mirova’s €10 million investment to develop ReGeneration’s carbon programme in France and Belgium. The transaction centered on a Voluntary Emission Reductions Purchase Agreement (VERPA) under which Mirova will invest €10 million to support the large‑scale deployment of ReGeneration’s regenerative agriculture programme. The programme is designed to assist approximately 3,400 farmers across some 500,000 hectares by providing five years of agronomic support, implementing a revenue-sharing mechanism for carbon credits and capturing the broader environmental and economic benefits of the initiative. According to the project’s data, the initiative is expected to avoid or reduce 10.4 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent over a 20‑year period. The carbon credits to be generated rely on Verra’s VM0042 methodology and are progressing through Climate, Community & Biodiversity (CCB) certification. This investment represents Mirova’s first carbon investment in France and will enable the programme’s widescale roll‑out in the territory. DLA Piper represented ReGeneration with a team composed by: Simon Charbit (Partner); Éric Villateau (Partner); Aziz Diallo (Associate — project matters); Cécile Szymanski (Counsel — corporate matters); Linda Hamadache (Senior Paralegal — corporate matters).
