OPPENLÄNDER Secures Record €465 Million Antitrust Damages for idealo Against Google

OPPENLÄNDER Rechtsanwälte represented idealo in proceedings against Google. The Berlin Regional Court confirmed that Google abused its market power well beyond the date of the European Commission’s decision in order to favour its own price comparison service. The court ordered Google to pay damages of more than €465 million, including interest. The judgment marks the first occasion on which a major technology company has been held civilly liable in Germany for the consequences of a competition violation on this scale, and it represents the highest antitrust damages award ever made by a German court.
