Linfa (Riello Investimenti) leads €8.64 million Series A for Finapp

Dentons advised Finapp, while Advant Nctm advised Linfa (Riello Investimenti SGR) in the transaction. The transaction: Linfa, the agrifoodtech investment fund managed by Riello Investimenti SGR, led a Series A financing round of €8.64 million in Finapp, an innovative startup spun off from the University of Padua. The round, the fifth investment by the Linfa fund, included follow‑on participation from MITO Tech Transfer (the fund of MITO Technology), Crédit Agricole Italia and Tech4Planet, the national technology transfer hub for environmental sustainability promoted by CDP Venture Capital. Finapp was founded in 2019 as a spin‑off of the Department of Applied Nuclear Physics at the University of Padua and has developed and patented a proprietary technology based on Cosmic Ray Neutron Sensing (CRNS). This technology measures in real time the amount of water in soil and snow by detecting neutrons produced by cosmic rays. Finapp’s probes are applied in precision agriculture, environmental monitoring, landslide and flood prevention, water resource management and leak detection in networks. Proceeds from the financing will enable Finapp to open two new operational locations in France and the United States, expand its team to meet growing international demand, and strengthen production and research activities in Italy, consolidating its technological leadership in large‑scale water measurement.
