Schoenherr and E+H Advise on Sale of ImWind to Wien Energie

"Schoenherr advised the owners of ImWind on the sale of all shares to Wien Energie, with E+H advising Wien Energie. The deal adds 52 wind turbines and four large-scale photovoltaic plants to Wien Energie, supporting its targets of 1,800 MW by 2030 and 2,800 MW by 2040."

Schoenherr advised the owners of ImWind on the sale of all shares in the company to Wien Energie, and E+H advised Wien Energie on the transaction. The transaction transfers full ownership of ImWind, an Austrian renewable energy producer active for three decades in developing, building and operating wind and photovoltaic parks across Austria, Germany and other European jurisdictions. Through this acquisition, Wien Energie directly adds 52 wind turbines and four large-scale photovoltaic plants to its portfolio, significantly expanding its green electricity generation capacity. For Wien Energie and the City of Vienna, the deal represents a major milestone in the city’s energy transition. The utility aims to more than double its renewable energy output to 1,800 megawatts by 2030—sufficient to cover the electricity needs of all households in Vienna—and to reach 2,800 megawatts by 2040, supporting the full electrification of Vienna’s transport system with climate-friendly power. Schoenherr previously advised ImWind and Bloch3 on obtaining an EIA permit earlier in 2025 and, together with E+H, advised on a prior sale of ImWind’s wind and solar park portfolio to Wien Energie in 2024. Schoenherr represented the owners of ImWind with a team composed by: Partners Alexander Popp, Alfred Amann, Christoph Jirak, Dominik Hofmarcher, Franz Urlesberger, Johannes Frank and Teresa Waidmann; Counsel Karin Pusch; Attorneys at Law Franziska Oczlon, Maha Zoehrer, Sarah Wolf, Sebastian Mueller, Yvonne Kraudinger and Florian Terharen; and Associates Alexandra Jelinek, Denise Stahleder, Dina Mutevelic, Frederik Koenigstorfer, Hanna Kirschner, Laura Zobernig, Lorena Niederkofler, Lukas Soritz, Michael Sturmair, Nikolaus Stepan, Rojda Oezyurt, Simon Ferk and Valentin Dignoes.
