Burges Salmon appointed to advise on Gwynt Glas Celtic Sea floating offshore wind project

Burges Salmon has been appointed to advise EDF Power Solutions and ESB, the partnership developing the Gwynt Glas Floating Offshore Wind Farm, on consenting and real estate matters. The Gwynt Glas project, located in the Celtic Sea, is set to become one of the first commercial-scale floating offshore wind farms in England and Wales. The development has the potential to deliver up to 1.5GW of low-carbon generating capacity, reinforcing the UK’s leading market position for floating offshore wind. EDF Power Solutions and ESB have entered into a partnership to develop Gwynt Glas, working with DP Energy’s Pembrokeshire-based team. Following achievement of preferred bidder status in June 2025, the partnership signed an Agreement for Lease with The Crown Estate, marking a significant milestone for the project. The development is expected to deliver environmental, social and economic benefits, supporting coastal communities and creating long-term regional opportunities.
