RITTERSHAUS Advises Insolvency Administrator on Sale of Caterer TasteNext to Cullinaris

"RITTERSHAUS advised insolvency administrator Oliver Willmann on the sale of insolvent caterer TasteNext’s business to Heidelberg-based Cullinaris (Salik Group). The deal, concluded about six weeks after TasteNext filed for insolvency, preserves daily meal deliveries in the Rhine-Neckar region and supports Cullinaris’ regional expansion in daycare, school and corporate catering."

RITTERSHAUS Rechtsanwälte advised insolvency administrator Oliver Willmann of the firm Schiebe und Collegen in Mannheim in the sale of the business operations of the insolvent TasteNext gemeinnützige Unternehmergesellschaft to Heidelberg-based caterer Cullinaris GmbH (part of the Salik Group). The transaction transferred the operating business of TasteNext to Cullinaris, preserving the Mannheimer caterer roughly six weeks after the company filed for insolvency. TasteNext supplies about 2,300 meals daily to day-care centres, schools and social institutions across the Rhine‑Neckar metropolitan region. With the acquisition — following Cullinaris’ late‑2024 purchase of the Heidelberg caterer Ehrenfried Betriebe — Cullinaris intends to expand its presence around Mannheim and Heidelberg and to grow its daycare, school and corporate canteen activities. TasteNext filed for insolvency on 12 September 2025. The non‑profit Unternehmergesellschaft was unable to pass on sharply rising costs for food, electricity and rent to its customers because it was bound by multi‑year contracts and renegotiations were generally refused. The company also lost several contracts in recent tenders to lower‑cost providers. Founded in 2014, TasteNext developed catering concepts and served some 20 schools, various social institutions and several kindergartens in the greater Mannheim area as well as in Leimen and Schwetzingen, and additionally provided event catering. The inclusion enterprise currently maintains 66 jobs, approximately 30% of which are held by people with disabilities whose training and participation are supported. The majority of the 66 employees of Ehrenfried are to be taken on by Cullinaris at the Heidelberg site. This marks the second insolvency sale of a caterer in which RITTERSHAUS acted for Oliver Willmann in his capacity as insolvency administrator; RITTERSHAUS previously advised him in 2024 on the sale of Ehrenfried Betriebe. RITTERSHAUS Rechtsanwälte represented Oliver Willmann as insolvency administrator over the assets of TasteNext gemeinnützige Unternehmergesellschaft with a team composed by: Dr. Martin Bürmann, Partner (Corporate/M&A, Insolvency Law); Dr. Matthias Keilbach, Senior Associate (Corporate/M&A); Dr. Annette Sättele, Partner (Employment Law).
