AZB, Khaitan and Debevoise & Plimpton advise on Mahindra–Manulife life insurance joint venture

AZB & Partners advised Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, while Khaitan & Co and Debevoise & Plimpton advised Manulife on the joint venture. Mahindra & Mahindra Limited and Manulife have agreed to establish an Indian life insurance company in which each party will hold a 50% stake to carry out life insurance business in India. Both parties have committed to infuse a combined total of ₹7,200 crore (approximately $800 million) into the joint venture within the first ten years of incorporation. In addition to the capital commitment, Mahindra and Manulife will contribute operational assets to the joint venture, including intellectual property, software and proprietary know‑how, together with infrastructure and human resources necessary to operate the business.
