Bird & Bird Advises Pithos on Strategic Partnership with PGIM Real Estate to Expand Self-Storage Portfolio in Spain

Bird & Bird advised Pithos in its strategic partnership with PGIM Real Estate, the world's third largest real estate investment firm, to expand the Zebrabox self-storage platform in Spain. The joint venture will operate under the Swiss-based Zebrabox brand and will initially seed a portfolio of 10 self-storage assets across Catalonia. A further seven acquisitions are in the secured pipeline, targeting opportunities in Catalonia, Andalusia and Valencia. The partners plan to maximise occupancy through high-quality refurbishment and active asset management. This Spanish expansion follows PGIM and Pithos's first collaboration in 2024 to acquire Zebrabox self-storage assets in France. Both partnerships aim to bridge the gap in institutional-grade self-storage supply in markets characterised by under-supply, strong demand and significant growth potential.
