Raue Advises WestfalenWIND on Sale of 212 MW Bad Berleburg Wind Farm to ENGIE

Raue advised WestfalenWIND on the sale of the fully approved Bad Berleburg wind farm project to ENGIE. The transaction concerns the Bad Berleburg onshore wind farm, which, with a planned total capacity of 212 megawatts (MW), ranks among the largest onshore projects in North Rhine-Westphalia. The project is being developed in the southern part of the region and comprises 32 wind turbines that are scheduled to be connected to the grid by 2027. Once operational, the farm is expected to produce approximately 500,000 megawatt hours of green electricity annually, sufficient to supply around 142,000 households. Landesbank Baden-Württemberg (LBBW) is providing financing and has structured a financing package of roughly €460 million as sole lead arranger. "The sale of the Bad Berleburg project to ENGIE highlights the strength of the German onshore wind market – and the significance of reliable partnerships among developers, financiers and investors for the success of the energy transition," says Christian von Hammerstein, partner at Raue. This transaction represents a further step in WestfalenWIND’s development strategy in renewables. The Paderborn-based group is one of the leading wind farm developers in North Rhine-Westphalia and emphasises close cooperation with local communities and citizens.
