Hogan Lovells advises British International Investment on structuring and subscribing fixed-rate subordinated bonds issued by nextProtein

The package includes a €4m senior loan and will finance production scale-up and a new Tunisian site."

Hogan Lovells advised British International Investment plc (BII) and Goodwin Procter advised nextProtein in connection with the structuring and subscription of fixed-rate subordinated bonds issued by nextProtein. The bonds were issued as part of an €18 million Series B financing round for Paris-based agritech company nextProtein, which was co-led by British International Investment and the Blue Ocean Fund of SWEN Capital Partners alongside existing investors Mirova and RAISE Impact. The financing package also includes a €4 million senior loan provided by Société Générale, CIC Paris Innovation and La Banque des Start-ups by LCL. nextProtein raises black soldier fly larvae to convert low-value agricultural by-products into higher-value ingredients — a protein meal (nextMeal), an oil (nextOil) and a fertiliser (nextGrow) — contributing to a more sustainable global food system. The proceeds will accelerate production, support the company’s expansion and finance construction of a second large-scale production site in Tunisia, which is expected to produce up to 12,000 tonnes per year of insect-based ingredients for aquaculture, livestock and animal feed sectors.
