Linklaters Advises Nestrade on Atlantic Forest Reforestation and Carbon Sequestration Project in Brazil

Linklaters advised Nestrade S.A., a subsidiary of Nestlé, in the execution of a long-term, verified emissions removal offtake agreement with re.green for a large-scale reforestation and carbon sequestration project in Bahia, Brazil. The agreement establishes a framework for generating and transferring verified carbon credits through a sustainable forest regeneration project registered under Verra’s Verified Carbon Standard. The project is part of the Atlantic Forest Reforestation/Restoration Grouped Project and incorporates adaptive management approaches, biodiversity preservation measures and stakeholder engagement on degraded land areas. The transaction represents a significant step toward supporting Nestlé’s commitment to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, with an interim target to reduce emissions by 50% by 2030. Linklaters is also advising Nestlé on additional carbon removal initiatives globally to further support its climate objectives. Linklaters represented client(s) Nestrade S.A.
