Bell Nunnally Prevails on Appeal in Texas Fraudulent Transfer Case Involving Jewelry and Questioned AI-Cited Research

Bell Nunnally represented JBG Collateral in an appeal brought by plaintiffs Lauren Rochon-Eidsvig and Heidi Rochon Hafer before the Court of Appeals for the Fifth District of Texas at Dallas in case number 5-24-00123-CV. The court affirmed that two parents must pay the balance of a $6.7 million judgment entered by the district court and held that their attempted transfer of jewelry valued at more than $1 million to their children violated the Texas Uniform Fraudulent Transfer Act. The matter attracted media interest after plaintiffs’ attorneys cited four cases concerning Texas gift law that they were unable to reproduce when pressed, prompting outside speculation that artificial intelligence had produced fabricated research results.
