DWF appoints former Metropolitan Police director Jenny Leonard as director in police, care and justice team

DWF appointed Jenny Leonard, the former Director of Operational Policing Law at the Metropolitan Police, as a new director in its police, care and justice team. The appointment brings a senior operational policing and public law specialist into DWF’s public law practice. Leonard joins with more than 25 years’ service at the Metropolitan Police and a wide-ranging background in civil and public law, operational policing and national security. Throughout her career she has acted in matters of national importance, including litigation before the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court, provided legal advice on numerous high-profile and critical incidents, and overseen significant inquests and public inquiries. She is also recognised as a leader in counter-terrorism law, having advised on live operational matters and major legal proceedings. In 2025 she was awarded the OBE for services to policing and national security. Commenting on her appointment, Leonard said: “I am thrilled to be joining DWF and to have the opportunity to apply my experience from the Metropolitan Police in a new environment.
