Hengeler Mueller advises andsafe on acquisition of Getsafe Insurance AG's policy portfolio

Hengeler Mueller advised andsafe AG, the digital insurer of the Provinzial Group, on the transaction; the Provinzial Group's in‑house legal team, led by Group General Counsel Lars‑Uwe Pera and Nils Xaver Thurm, handled the matter on the client side. andsafe AG intends to act as the risk carrier for approximately 500,000 contracts acquired from Getsafe Insurance AG. The portfolio comprises policies in the areas of liability, household contents, pet health and product insurance. The transfer of the portfolio to andsafe AG was approved by the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) on 27 October 2025. Insurtech Getsafe will continue to operate in the market in partnership with andsafe AG, acting as an underwriting agent under a future sales cooperation agreement. Hengeler Mueller advised andsafe AG on both the portfolio transfer and the structuring of the future sales cooperation with Getsafe.
