Luther Advises BayWa AG on Sale of Contracting Business to EGC

Luther Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH advised BayWa AG in the sale of its contracting business BayWa Energie Dienstleistungs GmbH (BayWa EDL) to EGC. The transaction involved the sale of BayWa EDL to EGC for a double‑digit million euro amount. BayWa AG has divested the contracting business to concentrate more strongly on the expansion of innovative energy and agricultural solutions and on the further development of its core business areas. BayWa EDL, founded in 2009, specialises in biomass heating systems and local heating networks, operates heat generation plants at 52 locations—primarily fuelled by biomass—and supplies roughly 51,200 MWh of heat annually. For EGC, a leading energy service provider and decarbonisation partner to the real estate industry, the acquisition strengthens its presence in Bavaria and completes its representation across Germany’s key regions. The transaction also broadens EGC’s technology portfolio in the field of biomass and reinforces its position as a one‑stop provider of climate‑friendly energy solutions.
