Grant Thornton Advisors expands multinational platform to include Grant Thornton New Zealand

"Simpson Thacher represented Grant Thornton Advisors LLC in its pending acquisition of Grant Thornton New Zealand, a move that will expand Grant Thornton’s multinational advisory and tax platform into the Asia‑Pacific region. The deal, expected to close later this year, builds on a platform launched in January 2025 with backing led by New Mountain Capital."

Simpson Thacher represented Grant Thornton Advisors LLC in connection with the pending acquisition of Grant Thornton New Zealand. The transaction contemplates the expansion of Grant Thornton Advisors’ multinational, multi-disciplinary platform through the addition of Grant Thornton New Zealand. The acquisition, which is expected to close later this year, will bring to the platform an operation with more than US$40 million in annual revenue and a team of over 300 professionals, extending the platform’s reach across 20 time zones into the Asia‑Pacific region. The deal further advances the rapid growth of the platform that Grant Thornton Advisors established in January 2025 with the support of an investor group led by New Mountain Capital. The integrated advisory and tax practice already includes more than a dozen high-performing firms across the Americas, Europe and the Middle East, complemented by independent audit practices. The platform currently comprises Grant Thornton firms in the United States, Ireland, France, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, the Channel Islands and the Cayman Islands, and will include previously announced transactions with Grant Thornton firms in Spain, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Belgium and Luxembourg anticipated to close in the coming weeks. Grant Thornton Advisors has also announced transactions to enhance its advisory offerings with Auxis and Stax.
