Goodwin advises nextProtein on €18 million Series B fundraising

International law firm Goodwin advised AgTech start-up nextProtein on its €18 million Series B financing. The Series B round, totaling €18 million, was jointly led by Swen Capital through its Blue Ocean fund and by British International Investment, the UK development finance institution and impact investor. The round included participation from existing investors Mirova and RAISE Impact and was accompanied by a €4 million senior loan provided by a banking consortium. The proceeds will enable nextProtein to significantly scale its operations, notably through the construction of a second production plant designed to produce 12,000 tonnes of insect-derived products per year, including 2,500 tonnes of protein meal. The company projects that this expansion will allow it to reach profitability. Founded in 2015, nextProtein produces insect protein and oil for animal feed using an exclusive technology that raises black soldier fly larvae on low-value agricultural by-products, converting them into economical, high-quality ingredients for aquaculture, livestock and pet food while delivering environmental benefits such as reduced land and water use and lower carbon emissions.
