CMS advises SaxonQ on investment by Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen

CMS advised SaxonQ GmbH on the investment by Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen (TGFS). TGFS has invested a seven-figure sum in SaxonQ GmbH, a deep‑tech company founded in Leipzig in 2021 that develops mobile quantum computers based on diamond chips using NV technology. The investment is intended to provide targeted impetus and to strengthen the company during its development and scaling phase. SaxonQ is simultaneously preparing a major financing round to miniaturise its technology to chip size and to further develop the required production technology. The company’s approach, which enables operation at room temperature without complex cooling or ultra‑stable laboratory environments, and recent awards, underscore a strong position for further growth. TGFS supplies technology‑oriented start‑ups with equity capital for growth. Launched in 2008 by the Free State of Saxony (including ERDF funds) together with Saxon financial institutions, the fund has supported more than 100 start‑ups since its inception. CMS advised SaxonQ GmbH with a team composed by: Dr Jörg Lips and Dr Kevin Schmidt. The CMS team led the legal structuring of the TGFS investment and is supporting SaxonQ in this crucial growth phase and in the planned major financing round.
