Osborne Clarke advises Foresight on £90 million first close of North West regional investment fund

Osborne Clarke advised Foresight Group on the first close of Foresight Regional Investment VIII at £90 million, with commitments from Greater Manchester Pension Fund, Clwyd Pension Fund and Merseyside Pension Fund. The transaction concerns the launch of Foresight Regional Investment VIII, the manager’s third dedicated regional investment fund for the North West of England. The fund has completed a £90 million first close and will provide flexible equity investments ranging from £1 million to £15 million across all sectors and transaction types. It will support the growth of small and medium-sized companies across the region, with the stated aims of creating jobs, driving prosperity and supporting local communities. The fund will operate with a hard cap of £130 million. Foresight’s prior regional activity in the North West has, since the first Regional Investment Fund launched in 2015, supported investee companies that have created more than 2,100 jobs. The first fund delivered average returns of 4x, underpinning support for this latest fund and reflecting the strength of the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. This engagement marks the fifteenth regional fund on which Osborne Clarke has advised Foresight.
