"Frontier Power Ltd. has entered a strategic joint venture with Cerberus Capital Management to accelerate the development of long-duration energy storage (LDES) projects in the UK under Ofgem's Cap and Floor regime. The partnership includes an initial £44 million investment, with a broader commitment of up to £159 million, aiming to deliver at least 16 projects with over 20 GWh of storage capacity. Gowling WLG advised Frontier Power Ltd. (Frontier) on its strategic joint venture with an affiliate of Cerberus Capital Management, L.P. (Cerberus). The transaction involved a landmark partnership aimed at accelerating the development of Frontier’s portfolio of long-duration energy storage (LDES) projects under the UK’s Cap and Floor regime managed by Ofgem. As part of the joint venture, Frontier secured an initial £44 million investment from Cerberus, with a broader commitment of up to £159 million to advance LDES projects across the UK. The partnership aims to deliver at least 16 Cap and Floor–eligible projects, representing over 20 GWh of storage capacity, to enhance grid stability, reinforce energy security, and support the reliability of the UK’s power system.
