"BT Group Completes Sale of Irish Data Centres to Equinix"

"BT Group Plc has completed the sale of its Irish data centres business to Equinix, following approval from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission after a detailed investigation. Despite this divestment and a previous sale of its Irish wholesale and enterprise unit, BT remains active in Ireland, with over 300 employees supporting multinational companies and large organizations, as well as continuing to deliver the Emergency Call Answering Service. The deal was advised by Simmons & Simmons, highlighting their expertise in complex cross-border transactions in digital infrastructure."

Simmons & Simmons advised BT Group Plc, while Equinix was represented by its own legal team in the transaction. The transaction involved the sale of BT Group Plc's Irish data centres business to NASDAQ-listed Equinix. The deal was cleared by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) following a Phase 2 investigation. This sale follows BT's earlier divestment of its Irish wholesale and enterprise business unit in September, also advised on by Simmons & Simmons. BT continues to maintain a strong presence in Ireland, serving multinational companies and large organizations, and delivering the Emergency Call Answering Service.
