Eversheds Sutherland acted as legal counsel to Equitable, a leading financial services organization and principal franchise of Equitable Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: EQH), in its agreement to acquire Stifel Independent Advisors, LLC, a subsidiary of Stifel Financial Corp. (NYSE: SF). The transaction involves Equitable acquiring Stifel Independent Advisors, a premier independent broker-dealer and registered investment adviser with over 110 independent advisors managing approximately $9 billion in client assets. As part of the deal, Stifel’s independent advisors are expected to join Equitable Advisors, Equitable’s broker-dealer and registered investment adviser. The transaction is anticipated to close in the first quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. This acquisition aligns with Equitable Holdings’ strategy to expand its wealth management segment, which includes approximately 4,500 financial professionals across the U.S. and more than $110 billion in assets under administration.
