"COBALT successfully represented Nextwood Two, part of HS Timber Group, in obtaining unconditional merger clearance from the Latvian Competition Council for the acquisition of Kurekss, a leading Latvian sawmill, and its subsidiary Kurzemes granulas. Despite concerns from competitors about potential anti-competitive effects, the Council concluded that such risks were unlikely due to strong market competition and alternative sales channels. The acquisition strengthens HS Timber's presence in Latvia, following its earlier acquisition of Vika Wood in January 2025."
